When I watched the assemblies at the end of each shooting week it was obvious from the very beginning of shooting that Joe was a highly skilled editor. A member of the post production team fell ill with Covid, the knock on consequences rendered the appointed editor unavailable to work on Ep 7 so Joe stepped up to be the lead editor. There was no question he was a highly skilled incisive editor from the beginning of the process and he and I worked in tight harmony until picture lock. The episode is the Season Finale. There was immense pressure from the Exec Producers to bring various story threads to a powerful resolution. The scripts were late ( so there was some extra work to do during shooting and editing). There were complex editing decisions required to successfully tell the stories of the multiple emotional about turns amongst the characters. There are also 3 intense action sequences in the ep. Joe knows and understands action. His cutting of these 3 highly complex, super high coverage scenes is outstanding. I totally trusted Joe to be completely on top of the rushes, the story, the performances and the overall rhythm of the piece. He cut a great ep, and led the cutting room with confidence and great skill despite all the pressures of time and creative expectation. I will not hesitate to work with him again if our schedules allow.”
